Be sure to follow the instructions and first keep the cartridge under water for a few minutes and then fill and empty 3 times before using. We bought this product the most for the lye that wasn't in our old filter. We love the slim jug design and it fits perfectly in our fridge. VERY POOR DESIGN. I was glad to get this as it's one of the more reasonable alkaline water pitcher options. My experience with it hasn't been great so far. If you fill the filter canister to the brim, there will be too much water to filter out. It would be helpful if there was some sort of maximum capacity line on the reservoir.
