NuTone S89222000 Motor Assembly for Model 9417, 9417D, 9427, 9427P, 9417DN, VH9417, and VH9427 Review

The plug was on the opposite side of the socket in the ceiling assembly. I loosened 2 nuts and turned the bracket over. It was easy to fix. The rotating cylinder was slightly larger than the hole in the ceiling, causing it to be stuck and not spinning. I had to use a fine tooth file and file a little around the perimeter to get it spinning freely. After these changes, everything works fine.

This is a genuine NuTone motor. As other reviewers have pointed out, the squirrel cage on this device is about 0.5-1.0mm too close (or too big) to the throat of the tin it sits in. To allow my squirrel cage rotor to spin freely without catching on the edge of the sheet metal, I adjusted it so that it was about 0.5mm farther from the spin shaft. Not sure if this is a genuine NuTone part as the description suggests. The bracket was bent in two places and I had to bend it back into shape. The motor assembly was too close to the fan housing for the fan to rotate. I had to add a couple of washers as shims to get the correct spacing. And in the end, the squirrel cage was deformed.
