My 12 year old dog has been wearing paws for 12 years now! They stay and protect their feet from salt and ice. They protect our floors from dirty paws. My dog is fine with this and has no problem slipping unless of course it's a big ice storm with icy sidewalks in which case we all slip but she's better than me! I bought these for my older three legged lab mix to give him more grip on our tile floors. I bought the X-Large hoping they weren't too tight. Basically they are balloons. Although sized to fit dogs 30 pounds taller than my dog, the shoe's opening width was no wider than my thumb. In comparison, the "balloon" part was huge, much larger than my dog's paw. These boots are a good solution for keeping my dog's paws clean. I use the smaller size for his hind legs, which works perfectly. I have ordered these boots more than half a dozen times. The reason for deducting 2 stars is that the red shoe dye rubs off my dog's white paws and he then spends the rest of the day trying to lick the dye/chemical off. After several failed attempts with different types and brands of boots (cloth socks, silicone rubber boots and non-slip boots with velcro), it is definitely the best choice for in terms of comfort my little dog. I chose the recommended size in the chart and they fit perfectly! PROS: - They are form fitting and flexible so my dog felt very natural and comfortable when walking.
