It is very sturdy. I use it for my 70 pound Japanese Akita. I have no worries about it breaking, so it is fine for large dogs. However, the diameter of the leash isn't very big. It is hard to hold when you need to hold it tightly against resistance (he can suddenly pull very hard if he sees a squirrel). I like this leash a lot. I use it for my dog every time we go out for a walk.Sometimes we need a shorter leash and need to grab it along the rope and not just the handle (like if we're going close to traffic or are avoiding another dog). I noticed that when I grab it anywhere other than the handle and my dog pulls, it really hurts my hands! No injury has been caused, but wow it's so unpleasant. However, the leash is very nice and has lasted us over two years, now!

This is a really good quality leash, especially for the price. My 8 week old power chewer border collie has not chewed through the leash yet, and I don't think she will. The colors are great and I love the reflective strip in the leash too. The only issue I have with it is that it's a bit too heavy for a 12 pound puppy to walk with. These are high quality leashes but the width measurements are definitely off. First i bought the 3/4 inch and it was the thickest leash i've ever seen, and also very heavy. I then bought the 1/2 inch and it was too thin and light, like holding a string. At least the 3/4 inch is soft. The 1/2 inch is rough on the hands.
