Sangean Rules! for portable AV equipment

A great upgrade from the DT-200X which I have used for many years. DT-200X also works well. I'm an AM radio geek so it's good to have more than one. I like the preset station feature on this radio. The AM sensitivity is great, but I didn't directly compare it to the old radio. It's just a super cool radio - I'm very happy with it! The only minor complaint about the headphones that come with the kit. It comes with the Sangean earbuds, which have a round, saucer-shaped part that sits outside of…

The radio I've been waiting for!

After 60 years they have finally created a portable AM/FM radio with all the features you need. In addition to the AM/FM bands, it has a weather band with all eight frequencies you need wherever you are (with alarm function). You can save 19 stations and find them quickly with the memory button. Has a great speaker or headphone jack. The FM antenna is a headphone cord or 2.5ft cord that plugs into the headphone jack. The AM antenna is built in. Very good reception even in densely populated…

Small, light, well made handheld weather radio

Just received this and am very happy with it. It doesn't have a flashlight, it doesn't have a handle, it doesn't have a solar panel and all that, but I don't need any of that. Without that they left it small, simple, light and seems very functional. I like the auto-off feature, NOAA weather monitoring even when it's off, and the case feels well made. This came with a throw antenna and headphones. I learned that this antenna needed to be plugged in (or headphones acting as the antenna) to…

Disappointing lifespan

This was my second DT-400. The first lasted for several years, took a few drops and "ticks". The headphone jack was completely worn out, only one headphone worked. So I bought this replacement on June 2, 2019. When delivered, the weather sensor's button seemed to stick, preventing it from switching back to AM/FM. I could live with pressing the button multiple times to toggle it. Then the radio won't go off until the end of July. He chewed up several sets of batteries. I sent it back to Sangean…

Not worth the money.

I originally bought another Sangean set -DT-800BK- and returned it because the AM reception wasn't that good. Revain's customer service was excellent and the Sangean representative I spoke to was very attentive and helpful and returns were very easy. Then. I bought the device I'm reviewing right now and to be honest it's no better or worse. FM reception is excellent, but audio is mediocre at best. Yes I know the speaker is small but for the money I expect better AM reception and sound quality…

Died 1.5 years later: Weather Radios

I bought this as an alternative to my CC Crane "CC Pocket" which had a mechanical volume switch failure (apparently a known issue). I found the Sangean less desirable than the CC Crane from the start (although it looks like a virtual clone from the outside): the battery level cannot be viewed without turning on the device. It will turn off automatically after 60 minutes if you don't press and hold the ON button for 10 seconds. You cannot view the clock while it is in use. But it worked fine (no

VERY good pocket radio

I'm done with "cheap radios". I am an experienced radio user and have been familiar with radios since the vacuum tube days. Yes, even portable ones that use those 1 volt bulbs. Fast forward to today and I can confirm that there is one big difference between this Sangean and $20 knockoffs. Well, if you're happy with the FM radio in your phone, or think a $20 laptop is fine, then by all means go ahead. This radio is wasted on you. You will buy it and you will not be able to rate it. On rare…
