Removes paint from bikes

We bought this stand in 2016. We really liked the design and the security features it offered. After 4 years I refuse to use it. My husband and I bought our forever bikes for OVER 1200.00. My husband's bike is now peeling off the paint to a base coat. Mine was rubbed, but not as much as his. Very dissatisfied with it. We ended up wrapping the J hooks with a soft cloth to use them. We just bought a kuat rack to replace the swagman. Nothing touches the painted parts of the bike at Kuat.

DO NOT BUY - FALL BIKE

I thought this rack was great and strong until it broke on the way home, the frame hook broke and my bike flew off the rack. He was hit by another car. The bike broke, the damage had to be paid to the other party and the trunk is now useless to me because I can't trust it. If their customer service had responded to me, even with a refund, which was the least they could do, I would have given them a 3 star rating, but customer service has left me with no response for over a week. TAKE YOUR MONEY

Forget accessories

I bought this based on the great reviews and needed a new bike rack. The Swagman Chinook is installed on my Jeep's 2" receiver and installation was quick and easy. It looks great and my bikes fit perfectly, I just love how my bike looks on it and when I'm doing a quick pit stop it feels safe with the top up. The main reason I give it 3 stars is the rocking and the boy rocks. When I first got it I did notice a little wobble, mainly over bumps and tight corners, but yesterday was my last ride…

The perfect bike rack for my needs

I love this bike rack. I read a lot of reviews when I decided to buy a towbar for my car. This was the only bike that ticked all the boxes on my wish list.1 Attached to both the car and the arms securing the bike, I feel completely safe and confident leaving my bike on a stand in public. 2 Tilts sideways away from car so I can sit in my sunroof. 3 Folds away into the car when not in use so it's out of the way and I can leave it in the car. I didn't want to keep taking it off and putting it back

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel

Loading and unloading problems for the elderly.

There is a flaw in the design of this rack that the older generation should be aware of! I bought this shelf based on all the rave reviews. That central vertical bar that has two ratchet U-bars moving up and down is my problem. To get the bike off the stand closest to your car, you have to reach out and pick up the bike at an awkward angle. If you have back problems, think about it first! The build quality is very good as mentioned in other reviews. If I were younger than now (62) this would…

Pros
  • Wow
Cons
  • Fix

The stand arrived very well packaged with all parts included and secured in the package. It is strong and well built. The instructions could be a bit clearer as with most products on the market the manufacturer is more concerned with something other than assembly rather than beta testing with people who have never assembled anything like this. Everything fit perfectly, assembly didn't take much time. After assembling it works perfectly. Tilt it away from the car, the ability to fold, the…

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Thin

The up and down movable adjustment bracket has a button you press to move it when you unlock it as this pin has lost its end cap or is broken rendering the unit unusable . This is not a defect but a design flaw or inferior parts. Now I have to get a thin screw to hold the button. The $250 device is well made and then cheap in the most important part, which tightens and latches the device with plastic and a thin pin. Very disappointed as if wanting scrap I would have bought a cheap block. I…

After 7000km driven I still highly recommend it.

This was purchased 1 month ago for a 7000 mile trip on my 2016 Subaru Forester. I've moved the review to the end of the trip to give it a little more value. Pros: - Half the price of Thule - Once assembled, it can be removed or installed in a minute - Holds bikes securely to the hitch with locks (included). and on each bike - Tilts sideways for access to the car's tailgate. - Folds close to the car when the bikes are not mounted. It's so compact that I don't remove the trunk when the bikes…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Functionality

first thoughts I will post a review in 1 month

Pros: - Decent quality of metal used for construction. Doesn't feel like pop steel. Doesn't look really high quality. But better than I expected - The wheel seats are metal. It was hard to tell from the pictures. But they are metal. - High quality wheel straps and protective rubber buffers. - Bikes are held in place when riding on unpaved, bumpy construction roads. - Protective silicone over the retaining clips to prevent scratches and slipping in the hand. - Locking clips. - Can be tipped away

Pros
  • Best in its niche
