Description of 🚚 Enhanced Trailer Light Power Module: Tekonsha 119147 ModuLite HD Protector

Uses a direct connection to the tow vehicle's battery to power the trailer's stop, turn, tail and running lights without overloading the vehicle's electrical system. Use when: trailer has more than 1 light assembly per side and is equipped with multiple clearance or running lights; if tow vehicle may tow a variety of trailers; if tow vehicle has 'lamp out' sensors. Integrated, re-settable short circuit and overload protection - safeguards itself and the tow vehicle from shorts and wiring installation mishaps. For vehicles with pulse width modulation (PWM) taillights, ensuring full brightness of the trailer lights; use on 2 or 3 wire systems; works with LED and/or incandescent bulbs (vehicle & trailer). Rated at up to 4.2 amps for turn/stop circuits and 7.5 amps for the taillight circuit; includes pigtail with 4-flat connector and cover along with wire for battery; comprehensive instructions.

Easy installation of the 7-pin side connector

This was an easy installation - transferring a four-wire car wiring to a three-wire trailer wiring. Installation took about 10 minutes as I had already routed the wiring, I just had to plug it in between the car's wiring and the 7 pin bumper socket.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Discontinued model

Works with aftermarket LEDs on car and LED lights on trailer

Works great on my 2003 Nissan Frontier XE Crew V6 5MT, with LEDs on car and LED trailer lights. The filling gives me confidence that it will last. As others have pointed out, the instructions should clearly state that black is +12VDC and white is return/ground.

  • Quality construction

Wiring check with meter

Headlights work properly when installed correctly. Everywhere I looked the wire colors that were supposed to match my MINI were wrong. I gave up and hooked up the battery, checked every wire in the harness and was able to figure out where each one was supposed to go. Now it works fine. Lack of supporting information so downgraded the star.

Pros
  • Satisfactory
Cons
  • Minor problems

Great set but needs a few extras

Husband had to buy this to hitch to a trailer. He said he loves it and the only reason he didn't give it 5 stars is because it comes with a fuse but no fuse holder and needs an extra cable. He said it was easy to install and once he received the missing parts it worked great to fix the problem he was using it for.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Black is positive, white is negative. *Shrug*

It's well built but the instructions don't specify which wire color for which function. Black wires in DC circuits are usually grounded, but in this case it's +12V. I cut the ring off before looking at the manual as I planned to connect it to an existing circuit. At first I was confused as to what was what and had to look at some photos online to see how it installed. Damn. Just print out the cable colors on the manual!

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Long lead time

Compact hermetic unit that didn't work

Very compact unit. Fits easily behind my left rear light. It replaced an almost 14 year old unit that came with my Tacoma 06. The original trailer lights still worked perfectly, but the control unit made a whirring noise when the headlights were on. Unfortunately, after installing the Tekonsha unit, the rear light cable (brown) on the trailer plug was without voltage. Everything else worked, but it's a big mistake. Even though I have been working with low voltage equipment professionally for…

Pros
  • Beautiful design
Cons
  • There are problems
