Weak Link for Building Materials

This is the weakest link in the Televator system, one that breaks frequently. After having to replace it several times with very little use, I bought a surface mount spring bolt lock instead (also from Revain) and had to make a wooden base for it to keep everything aligned. Still, it was a lot better than Werner's piece, although it didn't look quite as understated.

Pros
  • Inspires Confidence
Cons
  • Operating Speed

Important irreplaceable junk

The problem here isn't that it sucks, it's that. But I can live with replacing it once a year. The real problem is that it's an expensive crap. And unfortunately that's the only option I know of. They suck you in with a relatively inexpensive retractable attic ladder. The real money is made right here. And with all that being said, I will be buying another one here.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Someone's gonna die because of those stupid bars.

I have no idea why people are giving 5 star reviews for this replacement bar. They last a year or two and then fail. causing the attic door to swing open. It's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed due to the failure of these terribly underdeveloped interlocks. Thank goodness the four deadbolts that have failed for the past 10 years happened when no one was within reach of the door. Werner, shame on you!

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Not sure

Fits well, but that plastic bar seems to be the weak link in the ladder.

Repurchase of the same Werner Telescopic Loft Ladder - Model 36-62. I have three Werner floor ladders which are very handy and have been in use for many years. Link in the ladder and I had to substitute twice in two different ladders. That's fine if a replacement is needed, but I suspect it will fail again in a few years. I decided on a simple, powerful magnet solution to proceed.

  • Certified
Cons
  • Minor issues

It's the only one available so you'll need it

These hatch locks are pretty much the only ones available on the market. They come with the Werner floor ladder, but break after a while. This is my third ladder in about 15 years and I only use the ladder a couple of times a year. This part is an original spare part from Werner. The first two that broke were also original parts (there aren't any others on the market anyway), but the quality could have been better. However, if they break, you have no choice but to get the same one again. These…
