The sound is very good and I compare it to an acoustic wave, just less simple. The one in the picture is what you're getting, Evan, even though it says "wooden cabinet". Everything is fine inside, but I think I would leave the transparent cabinet for a cooler interior.

I have just received my radio after a long wait but was completely satisfied. Good quality, durable, very attractive, looks like a museum. The sound quality is amazing, stereo-like and very clear. Admittedly I wanted better AM sound quality but this is such a great radio I just love it, maybe if it breaks I'll buy another one as I'm sure my husband will.

This model doesn't have a remote control option, which worked fine for me. The reception is wonderful, the quality is definitely there, the Sangean brand still stands for quality. It's just a radio that's hard to find. If you buy one, the clear case is unique and was originally intended for use in the federal prison system. Well if the radio was that good I guess the food is good too [cloth napkins not available?] Cheers

Wow. What great sound from a 3" 7W speaker. I bought the Clear WR-2CL model because it is easier to use (no AUX, no alarm, no remote) and has fewer buttons making it easy to use This model also has 14 presets instead of 10 (7am, 7fm). Opaque models have only 10 presets. Adjustable high and low frequencies with the volume knob. The transparent polyurethane case looks very technological and cool. Great receiver from a great seller. I have rarely received anything SO PERFECTLY PACKAGED. I used to buy a clean version of the model and they work great in every way. I live far away and the signal works fine. Tuning and memory always work. If I weren't in a high lightning risk area I would add a VHF rooftop antenna, but my favorite NPR has an interpreter only 10 miles away.
