I am a size 18 and I ordered the 2x. It seemed a little large, so I threw it in the washer and dryer. It did shrink, making the button placket a little rumply, but it is now an excellent length (just slight past my natural waist). It's still slightly big around, but it's not terribly boxy as the ribbing at the bottom does draw it in. I've gotten this frame for 4 separate posters now and it's leagues above the flimsy frames you'd usually pick up at somewhere like Target or Walmart. It's got a good heft to it, fits posters nice and snugly so you don't have any extra space on the sides, and overall is just a quality simple frame done well. I love this brand for beanies! SO perfect for the whole family. My toddler and I have matching ivory beanies and I just bought a matching ivory one for our second daughter to wear home from the hospital when she's born in January! They are so soft with the perfect amount of stretch.
