I haven't had any problems with firmness or thickness yet. In the hand area they fit as expected (on the arm I purposely went up a size) but the tightness in the forearm can really depend on how wide your forearm is. bigger size for my hands but it just fits my forearm so it's not too snug and snug enough that it doesn't fall off but i think if i had a small size for my hand maybe the hole would be too tight/ small for my hands.
