Review on Homend Pneumatic Storage Mechanism Hardware by Sara Wells

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fairly difficult to install but works well

I installed this kit in an RV to raise a queen bed with storage underneath. As mentioned, it comes without instructions. Other's photos helped, so I posted my own. What helped me with the install was being able to slip under the raised surface so I could mark where to drill holes for the hardware with the "lid" closed before attaching. brackets. It comes with pan head screws that require access to the inside and outside of the side panels where you will be installing the bottom brace. You may need to plan on using other devices of the right length and style for your work. For my setup I was able to use the included hardware on the left side but not the right side without drilling the outside wall of my RV so I installed a 2x4 brace on the inside and used construction screws with washers to secure the bottom brace on the right side to be attached. The "lid” I lift is initially angled upwards with piano hinges on the trailing edge. I had to remove these loops. Note that when installing these mounts, the lid will still tilt up at the front, but will also rise at the back, leaving the back edge about 6 inches off the surface. You cannot open the pneumatic pistons manually. Do not conclude that they are "frozen". They work properly once installed on the mounts and you have a lever to push the attached cover.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good but not great
