My kid Jack and Jill's bathroom design didn't take into account the right place for a toilet roll holder! The door is a pocket door, and the toilet is installed very close to the wall of the pocket door, and the tub is on the other side of the toilet. The contractors installed a toilet paper roll on the wall opposite the toilet, meaning small children have to stand up to get to the toilet paper. Not perfect! It might be ok for an adult to reach, but I'm sure most of Jack and Jill's bathrooms are primarily for kids. The location is easily accessible for children. Because the holder doesn't hold the toilet paper off the wall but shrinks as the roll is used, it hardly interferes with the toilet bowl. It's also very easy for kids to switch roles if they ever think of doing it, and they don't seem to have any trouble knocking the role off accidentally. Before installing I wiped the wall down with rubbing alcohol and used a spirit level to make sure it didn't irritate me. It has been installed for several months and still without any problems.
