Review on Kalita 22212 Filters Total White by Katie Garcia

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quality filters on disposable filters

I compared the price per filter when buying through Revain. Two packs of 100 filters had the best unit price, but do the math before you buy. These filters are quite thick and of high quality. The Kalita Wave 185 makes excellent coffee. The thick material ideally slows down the extraction process of the coffee beans. Don't worry about the filter breaking: it stays sturdy when I pull it out of the shaft and toss it in the compost after brewing. There is no build up in my coffee with these filters - they work well down to a fine grind. I may try brown filters at some point to keep chemicals to a minimum, but for now I'm fine with the lightening option. I noticed that the flow rate is higher at the beginning of the brew than at the end. The paper filter may be clogged or wet ground coffee may have condensation. I'm not even sure if that's a problem; It's just an observation I haven't seen with other finer filters. I have not tried competitor filters with my Kalita Wave and I can use these proprietary filters with ease. At prices between 7 and 8 cents per filter, I'm happy with the price and ease of purchase through Revain. My experience with Melitta filters on filter coffee machines is that they sometimes break too quickly and water leaks out.
