Removes short stubble and leaves a smooth face. I didn't use any lotion and didn't have any issues with redness or anything like that afterwards. Bought another one for a gift! It comes with two attachments, one is wide to cover large areas and the other has a smaller chin hole. I used the larger one for the lips, which seems to work best for me. It pulls a little and you can feel it on your lips, around the mouth and on top of your cheeks, but that lets you know it's working and it's not too bad. The sting is over before you know it. The result is worth it! I don't intend to use a razor head and I don't use a foot buffer, but I do. I am so glad I made this purchase. 5 STARS!
