Perfect electronics

I researched cases for my fuse plate. I looked at several strains, read reviews and the like. Although this case didn't have many reviews, I have had several other Startech products ranging from 7ft network racks to wall mount racks, cloners and other items. So I decided this would be a great new product to try. Well packaged there was an Esata cable and a USB 3.0 cable in the box. I connected the enclosure to a WD Blue 4TB drive and the drive and enclosure worked well together. I always did a…

"Fanless design " is a bug, not a feature

The case, external power supply, eSATA cable and USB 3.0 cable all have good fit and finish and feel solid. Discs slide in and out with minimal effort. The product works flawlessly with Windows, macOS, Linux and BSD. However, there is one significant design flaw - there is no fan. I was planning to use the enclosure for backups, clones etc and knew the drives could be 100% charged for hours. During initial testing, I saw the drive heat up within minutes. So I decided to open the case and see if

Amazing rotating backup kangaroo case

This case is perfect for my backup needs. I use VEEAM and part of the GFS strategy is to rotate weekly backups as well as monthly backups and store them in a safe. That way I can easily pop in a 10TB drive, run a backup, erase and save it, and then pop in the next disk.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Hard to say

Very pleasant to have, a bit pricey.

I've bought so many cases from other brands that couldn't easily replace my HDs, this one is changing all of a sudden but only with 3.5 rims. Twice the price of other brands I've bought before. hope it lasts So far, so good.

Pros
  • Great design

  • I vaguely remember

Stylish design, easy to use, works flawlessly.

The title really says it all but I like this case. I've had many of these over the years and this is by far the best. Not only does it look cool (nice backlit display on the front), it also cools drives without the need for a fan. Very durable and runs high capacity drives with no problem - I'm currently using it with an 8TB drive. Oh, and the switch is at the top (or bottom, if you will) unlike some who put it in the middle for some stupid reason. The perfect body from all sides!

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Something is wrong

Requires 2.5 " drive tray

This external drive case is well designed. The front door allows you to easily remove the 3.5" SATA drive. The thin blue LEDs on the front are very useful for showing when the drive is powered on and when data is being accessed. However, there is one major drawback - 2.5-inch drives will not work in this case. I had to buy a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter to use my 2.5" SSD. It would be nice if they included this type of tray for free so you can use your 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives with this case.

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • The list will go on.

External camera system - works great

Use this as an external extension for my camera system (8 cameras at 1440p). Works great, I wish there was active cooling when it's hot, but honestly (under normal conditions) this thing is great. The tool-free installation was a pleasure. The included stand is a table, although in my case I hold the drive horizontally. Dear IT administrators. If you keep it in a server room, you should be aware that this case, just like your servers, will easily overheat if your cooling solution fails for any…

Pros
  • Looking forward to it
Cons
  • Easy maintainability

good case. but the drive gets hot!

I bought this case to house a 4TB WD Black drive. Bandwidth with eSata and USB 3 ports works great. The only downside is that the drive gets very hot in this case (126F after about 20 minutes of operation). Excessive heat over a long period of time can destroy the drive. I tried the drive in a swap tray on my PC and after a few tests it got around 100F. So everything is fine with the drive, only the case does not provide cooling. It has a single vent in the front that's partially blocked by a…
