Tripp Lite Outlet Safety TLM609GF Review

I have a few of these and use them in marine aquariums. They handle medium sized inductive loads with no problem (I use 150w and 250w metal halide lamps. I suspect they will handle a lot more, but I haven't loaded them to a higher load yet. I've seen too many bad interactions) . Seawater and electricity before you have an aquarium without ground fault protection.

I knew I was close to my limit but when I stuck one of these watt/ammeters in the wall I found I was using between 1900 and 2000 watts. This equates to 16-17 amps. The built in switch never clicked and now I'm worried if it's even worth using. I'm definitely going to replace it with a strip rated at 20A, but that's a little worrying.

Excellent product. I use it with my fish tank and love the length. This allows me to keep all the cables behind the tank and has a great place to "hook" it to the wall without worrying about wet cables!

I have an outlet for my outdoor kitchen, so Tipp-lite was a good choice. We keep it up and upside down to keep rainwater out of the open outlets. It comes with plugs for each outlet. Super hassle free solution. I have a fridge, smoker, and beverage center all plugged into this outlet, as well as a sound system for when I'm having fun.

I have two of these. one is bigger This is ideal for aquariums. It doesn't seem unnecessary. While the surge protector protects your gear, the GFI protects your fish and you. Using electricity wherever there is water is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Works very well.
