Not for me: Watch accessories

This is my first time using a deployment clasp. I think the quality of this item is ok, but not for me. It was uncomfortable. The thick, hard-edged piece of metal under the watch strap was no good. I tried loosening it more but couldn't find a setting I liked. But if you like Deployer, you'll probably like this one too.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No insurance

Love this clasp

I bought five folding clasps (NOT foldable - misspelled) and this one is stronger (thick) and well built. All have small problems when closing, but everything is fine after switching on. I just love the matte matte finish and solid feel. Goes well with aviator style aviator watches like IWC. Makes shiny ones look cheap - if your watch isn't shiny, it should fit.

Pros
  • Pleasing
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Istrap is more comfortable

I wanted a cheap polished stainless steel deployment clasp but most on Amazon are polished. So I ordered this one from Rechere because it has a matte finish. I also ordered polished in Istrap. The Istrap is more comfortable because the body of the buckle is longer. I will be returning this resolver as it is not comfortable for my 7-3/8" wrist. If your wrist is less than 7" a Resher may be right for you.

Quality Control Issues?

I bought a couple of Rechere spreaders and the first one was good. However, this was defective. Maybe it was a one off quality control issue, or the matte blacks don't work (the other one I bought was the matte silver). Anyway, one side snaps into place well, while the other needs to be pressed hard and sometimes comes loose on its own. Average 3 stars as 1 was good and this one was defective.

Beware of thicker bands

It's not bad for the price but it just doesn't work for the band I want to use it on. The leather on the buckle side of my watch band is too thick and I cannot install the spring bars effectively. A thin watch strap and that will not be a problem. I can take the Dremmel by the clasp so it can accommodate a thicker strap. Again, for just over $10, it's not the end of the world. So if you are trying to use this on a thicker strap I would think twice. I think this only works with something about…

Butterfly Deployment Clasp

Looks great on my Apple Watch leather strap but I had to use a dremel to work all the corners/edges to round them off otherwise they are REALLY sharp and uncomfortable. Dremel or very fine sandpaper and a bit of time to smooth out the edges then I highly recommend this fastener. The buffed spots are metallic instead of black, but you won't see them when you wear them. If you don't want to deal with that, I'd skip this clasp. Although all of the homemade fasteners I've tried have had this…

Inexpensive brushed stainless steel buckle.

My leather strap is a little thick at 4mm and it was difficult to push through the retaining ring which is probably better suited to a 3.45mm thick, 17.99mm wide leather strap. Sometimes there is very little tactile feel or sound when closing the second deployment clasp, so sometimes it doesn't actually close. But that could be because my leather strap is thicker. The release buttons are a bit fiddly and sometimes dig into my wrist, the edges can be rounded where they face my wrist. it should…
