Poloniex is an advanced cryptocurrency exchange that was founded by Tristan D’Agosta in 2014. It has previously been dubbed the world’s most popular cryptocurrency exchange — partly due to its extensive list of supported digital assets.
Originally based out of Somerville in Massachusetts, the exchange is one of the oldest and most trusted exchanges still in operation. It was also one of the first exchanges to list Ethereum Classic (ETC) in 2016.
In 2018, Circle — a Boston based cryptocurrency-focused financial services firm — acquired Poloniex in a deal reportedly valued at $400 million. Since the acquisition, Poloniex has made improvements to its customer services department, but this still remains one of its weak points.
