Super quick setup, fast sensor response

I've tried various HomeKit devices over the last few years and finally settled on the Aqara system. Along with the smart hub I also bought 4 door and window sensors. Adding sensors to my HomeKit ecosystem literally took less than 30 seconds between the moment I opened the box and the moment each sensor was integrated into the Home app. I love the fact that as a hub-based touch sensor, I can disconnect from the internet. , I can still monitor and control all my Aqara devices via LAN and hub…

Pros
  • hubs and controllers

  • boring packaging

These devices are pretty easy to set up and work fine in my Smartthings environment. I am quite happy setting up custom device handlers and one of them is well written. I absolutely love the size. I use them for window sensors and you don't even notice them - every other sensor I've seen or tried is huge compared to these. The magnet is quite strong and I haven't had a single wrong reading since using it. Now for a possible problem. The manufacturer is pretty clear that you must use their hub…

Affordable2. I can bypass their proprietary systems, accessibility is self-explanatory, but the second point is necessary lest I end up pigeonholed with a company that may or may not go broke. Also, for the tinfoil type, I tend to like devices that don't call the mothership when they feel like it. I started
