Arrived broken and will not be replaced

Bought this sensor and their oil pressure sensor. The oil pressure sensor works, but the temperature sensor sucks. I got it broken and tried to return it. They made me run and now it was too long to come back. I am disappointed that I was not able to get a replacement for a defective product.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Impossible to know for lighting and electricity

I installed this on my Kawasaki Teryx. After installing the thermostat, the thing kept leaking. I pulled everything out and found that soldering the thermostat was horrible and prevented the thermostat from seating properly to create a seal. I chose another product because of the inconvenience. At the moment there is no way to test the strength.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Quality is a small package of the Bosch name.

Works, sensor update delay is less than 1 second. The wiring for the light was annoyingly short for me. Mine consistently reads 2.5% colder than it really is across the spectrum. I tested it in a controlled pot of water with a small infrared thermometer. The final installation is in a brass tee that connects in line with the heater core bypass in a 1992 Cherokee Sport 4.0 engine.

Pros
  • Practical
Cons
  • Expensive

Inaccurate - reads 10 degrees below boiling point

Fortunately tested before installation - Suspended transmitter unit in a pot of boiling water where my laser temp gauge (and meat thermometer) read about 215 degrees, this gauge read 200 - 202 Waited about 3-5 minutes for stabilization (quickly stabilized). Checked three times, same result each time. A deviation of 10-12 degrees from the actual temperature is far from accurate, especially at the boiling point of the liquid.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Crumpled

Quality Control Issues

I bought this sensor because of the Bosch name. After installation I noticed that the coolant is coming from the thermal lamp area where it is located in the cooling system. After removing it, I inspected the bulb socket itself and found that the soldering work that had been done was horrible. There was no way he could sit down and shouldn't have gotten into the quality control process. I have attached a photo showing the Bosch product (glossy) and my old Autolight product. Notice the…

Scrap, poor quality

This mechanical water temperature sensor looks very nice but I was fooled. The installation took some time, so I did not kink the pipe and laid it carefully. Now to the test. With the engine fully warmed up, the display showed 25 degrees less than after the first road test. The next road test was even worse, 35 degrees. After letting the engine cool down, I did a third road test, this time the needle didn't move. All connections checked, everything ok. So the name Bosch means nothing. Made in…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • unreliable

Head/tip is huge, at least 3/8 inch in diameter and 1.25 inch long. Not ideal for what I got. Honda B-Series (turbocharged) engine. It doesn't even fit my motor's sensor hole so I can't use an adapter. I'm going to drill a larger hole in the filter sandwich plate and tap new threads to make it work. The nut is about 1/2 inch in diameter and all adapters are larger than this. Definitely not ideal, but it will work. Maybe use an electric gauge on small Japanese motors, believe me the electric…

  • I won't say anything

Great price but questionable long-term reliability

Bought to replace an autometer sensor that almost had the sensor come loose. It was part of the cost and does the job very well. It is installed on a 2.0 turbocharged engine, and if the stock sensor remains just under half - even with very hard driving and hot weather, this figure will increase. Taking off a star as I've noticed that on cold starts it's sometimes unresponsive for up to a few minutes and then jumps to the actual temp. Edit: January 11, 2018 Out of service for two days. :@. Less…

Easy installation, cheap thoughts!

I installed it under the hood to control the temperature while tuning/disassembling a running engine. I also added an oil pressure gauge under the hood. Not only do I enjoy seeing vitals without sticking my head out the driver's window, but I also distrust the 18-year-old sensors in my car. The factory oil gauge (Grand Cherokee 4.7 2004) is a "false" gauge because the transmitter unit only has one wire. This means the gauge will only read 55psi or zero. It's a glorified idiotic light…
