There's a good antenna nearby.

I bought four of these. Three for my DMR access points and one for one of my DMR portable radios. Haven't had any problems with the antennas yet. They seem to be working fine, now I can hit the repeaters which I couldn't with the standard duck. Overall I would recommend this antenna as a good budget option. Ps I would definitely recommend this any day of the week. Can't tell if it works better or worse (because I didn't notice a difference), but a thin whip is easier to manage.

Great inexpensive antenna.

Got a new Yaesu FT-2DR and wanted to get a nice diamond antenna. I stumbled across this HYS while shopping for small items to increase the total in my cart with free shipping. I know it's a Chinese fake of a Chinese fake but for a third of the price of the diamond I figured out what the heck. It turned out to be quite well made and ideal for radio. And I've noticed more signal bands on the repeaters than with the standard duck, so it's working! I can't verify if my broadcast signal is stronger,

Pros
 • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
 • Ugly packaging

Big win for a small price

Worked wonders on my ft-60, highly recommend. The only downside would be the length; If you want to be careful, this is not the best antenna. It's very flexible, although the first 3.5 inches is stiff and can use a bit more leverage to damage the HT connector. Also, the base of the antenna is not flush with the device and can create a moisture hotspot. It would be great if it had a rubber "skirt" that would be flush with the top of the device and give it a better chance of retaining water. All…

Pros
 • Compatible with some BaoFeng handheld radios, some TYTs and some Yaesu handhelds;
Cons
 • boring packaging

Perfect fit for my Yaesu FT-50R

Excellent antenna. I wanted something that not only had better gain, but also hit further than a repeater. The photo on the left is a standard antenna for my Yaesu FT-50R. Note the comparison with the photo on the right with the HYS NA-772 antenna. HYS shows full performance and the transmission is better than the series. I give it 3 stars for portability because it's not a telescopic antenna but it's larger than most. all weather. Today I tried it outside in the rain and everything is fine…

Pros
 • DUAL FREQUENCY 144/430MHz; Gain: 2.15dBi (144MHz), 2.5dBi (430MHz); SWR: <1.5;
Cons

Pleasantly surprised

This is a solid, powerful HT antenna, but definitely better than the rubber clamp that came with my FT-60. I went from S-4 to S-6 on TX and RX to a 25 mile repeater and that's really the main result, isn't it? My only concern is that this antenna has enough mass and rigidity that a good punch could damage the SMA HT connector. Eventually I had a very light prime antenna for this HT and wasn't worried about it. However, this is the antenna that will remain on the FT-60 as its performance is…

Cons
 • There are other interesting options.

Better than some famous antennas

I ordered this antenna along with an expensive branded tri band antenna to try on a Kenwood TH-F6A handheld. An expensive tri-band antenna deafened radio on both VHF and UHF, and signals from repeaters and VHF broadcast stations were MUCH attenuated when received. I sent this antenna back. This antenna is beautiful and durable, works great and receives very well. I've had it for about two years now with no problems. It doesn't transmit on 220MHz, but on 2m and 440MHz I see resonances with my…
