it worked great for about 30 bottles until kapow! collapsed and fell apart. I think plastic corks cause all kinds of corkscrew problems and this one was also found to be horrible plastic. Eh, that's life. I was so impressed with the design that I'm going to buy another one - just don't know which one.

After reading some reviews about the product falling apart in the hands of a reviewer, I used an opener cautiously. I bought this product as a spare knife for use in my office. I've opened dozens of wine bottles with this type of original bottle opener and I know how it's supposed to work. I just didn't put much pressure on using this opener and it worked as it should. The opener doesn't work as smoothly as the original, but it doesn't cost as much either. Just be gentle and careful.

Just got this from Revain for $14.99. I thought it sounded like a great deal considering the list price of $49.99. It felt a little flimsy (the handles were a bit flimsy on the plastic) and the bottle was awkward to open on the first try, but on the second try it worked like a charm. I have one of those wine corkscrews (The Connoisseur), a solid one that I bought from Costco. I love it. Brag about it. Find an excuse to open a bottle of wine. When I saw the low price of this item I bought 2 for some friends. I wish I had gone that cheap. They are so poorly made that I won't even give them away as gifts. Mine has been working fine since I bought it a few months ago. I have several of these types of corkscrews: I throw a lot of parties and like to have a few bottle openers with me so I don't have to worry about losing one in the evening. I have one that I bought for over 4 times the price and while it seems to be more durable both corkscrews do the job equally well and have no damaged corks!
