Revainrating 5 out of 5

Awesome gaming monitor and daily driver, love it!

Firstly, I've come from a lot of monitors over the last 3 years. I have used Korean B+ 27" 1440p ips monitors overclocked to a 120Hz refresh rate and then also Acer 23" 60Hz ips monitors. My usage ranges from school work, email, surfing the web, and playing Battlefield 3/4. And I have to say that this Viewsonic monitor is my favorite. The 144Hz refresh rate and Freesync with my AMD 290 card is not only great for first person shooters but also easy on the eye for general desktop use and web browsing. The blacks on this thing are great too! They are way better than my previous ips monitors. Although the colors are not the best, if you sit directly in front of this monitor and your eyes are roughly aligned with the top of the monitor when you are seated and using it (the recommended viewing angle for any computer monitor) and at arms length from the monitor you will see the colors They look great and are suitable for any job as long as you don't need something like a professional photo studio or color editing. The build quality is excellent and the stand is very solid. Freesnyc is great, you can hardly tell the frames are going up or down while playing, and the transition is very smooth. I love the black stabilizer, it helps me see better in Battlefield 4. Although I have to say one thing about gamma on this monitor, it's ready to go. I found the best middle ground by lowering Gamma from 1.00 to 0.85 for Gamma via AMD Catalyst Control Center. And then I set the black stabilization to level 6 via the monitor settings. Brightness to 30 because the backlight is very strong. The contrast is 70 and the blue light filter is set to 0 (to keep the screen as warm as possible). As mentioned above, when I sat directly in front of the monitor, I did not experience any eye fatigue, even after using the monitor for up to 5 hours at a time. The colors look great for a TN panel and the monitor is so responsive and fast that I don't think I can go back to an IPS panel until the tech is as fast as these TN panels. So, if you are a casual but avid FPS gamer, who also uses your computer for light professional purposes such as school or career where 100% color accuracy is not required, and for basic email/web browsing/shopping, you can I do not recommend this monitor. enough. I should note that I originally bought this monitor from Newegg, but the one they sent had a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen! So I returned it and got another one from Revain and had no problems. This model from Revain has a bit more flare at the bottom and right edge at the back, but that's not noticeable in everyday use. There is a noticeable color shift with this monitor, however, but as I mentioned before, it looks great when seated. I tried putting the monitor on a stand and using it at different heights, but for some reason my eyes started to tire faster. I then pushed it back so my eyes were level with the top of the monitor and everything was fine again. This made the colors look better. I bought it from Revain for $261.99. And then used Discover's price protection to get $12 back when Newegg dropped the price to $249.99. I hope this helped.
