Review on ASUS VE228H 1920X1080 Back Lit Monitor 21.5", 60Hz, Wide Screen, by Jason Morrison

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Focus on the picture quality, not the speakers

I've been looking for a new desktop monitor since the fluorescent backlight on my trusty 2005 EIZO 17-inch monitor started to dim badly. I've lived with the blackout for many years. For the past 12 months, I've been eyeing the NEC MultiSync EA232WMi 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor as an LED-backlit replacement. But then I became an ASUS fan as one product after another won me over. They make the best Android tablets. They make the best Google TV device. And they make excellent ultrabooks, so I had to try their desktop monitors. vs the VS series wasn't a factor as both models are priced the same. But as most reviews here point out, the VE series speakers aren't great. At least they're hidden in the bottom bezel so nobody uses separate ones anyway Loudspeaker with amplifier. is consistent and conspicuous. The native resolution of 1920x1080 is impressive. On my Mac Mini I can have two apps on the screen at the same time or enjoy full HD video streaming. Set-and-forget settings and auto-standby. I see no reason why I shouldn't have enough for many years of everyday use. What's the price. Such a picture
