Review on HP 25 Inch Wide Screen Monitor - 2509M (Model: NT195AA#ABA) by Flee Treadaway

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Adequate but not worthy of the hype

Firstly, I'm not comparing this monitor to much more expensive LED monitors as I'm not the type to compare a station wagon to a Corvette. Also, the screen is shiny. You should probably look into these things before buying a monitor. The reviews criticizing Gloss seem pretty stupid to me. This monitor has replaced the old Dell 2005FPW. Compared to this monitor, the screen is much larger, the colors are brighter and the images are sharper. However, the black levels on this monitor are worse than my old monitor from 2005 and the backlight see-through is significantly greater. Especially below. Also, the viewing angle is terrible on this monitor, with even minor angle adjustments completely distorting the colors. Also, be prepared to spend a lot of time tweaking this thing's presets, unless you like a ridiculously bright screen that washes out colors (the colors are actually impressive when you tweak the settings, but the presets are strange). ). This seems to me to be lazy on the part of HP. After about an hour of use, I noticed a dead pixel on the left edge of the monitor that flickers slightly. This monitor is connected to a Radeon HD6970 graphics card via an HDMI cable. All of my hardware is up to date, so it's unlikely that the problem is with my computer itself. For what you pay, this monitor is more than enough. But I'm disappointed in the product as the rave reviews and its second best monitor status at [.] led me to believe this monitor would be much better than it actually is. Based on what I got for what I paid and how it compares to other monitors in its class, I'll give it a 4 (3.5 if I could). But what I expected judging by the reviews is disappointment. If you don't intend to watch dark films or play dark games, always sit in the same place and can tilt the monitor to the right angle, you should be happy. Otherwise, if you are looking for a quality monitor, you can save some money with an LED display. Conclusion: Good for the price. Not as impressive as many reviews make it seem.
