Review on High Performance Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor: Height Adjustable, 240Hz, Full HD 1920X1080P - AW2518Hf by Gene Ulrich

Great gaming monitor

The monitor replaces a 120Hz Alienware that was 8 years old and eventually broke. This new one is always better. I have a GTX 1080 FE and when I booted Win 10 it was at 60hz and there was no way to go higher in the Nvidia control panel it just said 60hz and 50hz. Must. I had to right click on the desktop and go to the WINDOWS (not nvidia) display settings, from there select "View adapter properties" from the bottom and then click "List all modes". You will see an expanded list that is not https://www. amazon.com/gp/css/order-history/ref=nav_nav_orders_first in the Nvidia Control Panel settings. There you can select 1920 x 1080 32 bit 240 Hz. You'll know you're at 240Hz by quickly moving your mouse in circles on your desktop. You'll see a circle of mouse cursors touching (about 80 of them). If it's running at 60Hz and moving the mouse quickly in a circular motion, you might see 8 pointers and they're about 1 inch apart. I almost took off a star for bad delivery. You put it in a box twice the size of the inner box, with no filler. So he just bounced back and forth about 1 foot inside. It seems whole so I'm keeping it. But come on shippers. And don't worry about getting Gsync via Free Sync. If you have a good graphics card like a 1070, just play games with v-sync off and run the panel at 240hz. Screen tearing at 240Hz is zero and your games don't need to run at 240fps. It looks great when the game is running at 50 fps, 100 fps, etc. Vsync, Gsync and Free Sync are kind of gimmicks, you don't really need them. People who play fast FPS like Quake, Unreal Tourney etc. You will experience much less mouse lag, input lag, etc. if you run the game with vsync disabled. In dark scenes in movies and games, the brightness shines through by about 1/2 inch. My IPS monitors don't show through at the edges. Not sure if ALL are like this, or maybe mine was damaged in transit. Update February 2022 - I am pleased to report that the monitor is still working like new. I paid 330.00 in 2018 now it's double the price. I would upgrade to the ips version as the price should be 240.00 not 540 in 2022
