Nice little aluminum box for a project.

I needed aluminum boxes for some shielded RF projects and ordered a couple of these little boxes. The box worked great, I was able to drill through it easily and install my components. The lid fits well. The price is reasonable. I am very happy with them. I am attaching a picture with some of the components to show the size of the box and what items will fit inside.

Great box for guitar pedals

Very cool little box for a project. I used it to build a pedal for my electric guitar amp and it works great. I would definitely buy another one if I had another similar project. I would recommend using a drill press if you have access to one rather than a hand drill to drill holes in this thing. It's easy for a hand drill to snag (because it's not perfectly vertical), especially with large holes like those needed for 1/4-inch audio jacks or stomp switches.

Cons
  • boring packaging

Superb Cast Aluminum Case

These are good cases. When building a project, you always have the option of using Hammond's extruded aluminum box. But if you're building something special, use a die-cast aluminum box like this one. It's a bit small. Larger available. However, use cast aluminum (at least that's what I call it, I think die casting is the same thing) if you have an important project. Otherwise, extruded aluminum is probably good enough. I have to say that cast aluminum boxes are a bit easier to drill than…
