Died after a few days of use.

Worked in my inmoov robot for several days. Correct voltage applied, now it just doesn't work anymore. Hit or miss with it.

Pros
  • Lasting test results
Cons
  • Good

Quality control good for home audio

The first of two ordered did not fit. I also discovered after trying the second one, which actually worked, that the volume control had to have an on/off switch, which the first didn't. I didn't test the unit for sound quality as I was looking for a direct amplifier that could be used in the audio field, so I only checked the output with a scope.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • I don't like it, everything is fine

This manufacturer requires quality control before shipping

The first unit was dead on arrival. Replacement was quick but only one channel worked. Also, the second block board was not completely cut from the etch batch and I had to trim it to the published dimensions. Finally, none of the units came with the washer pictured.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Surprisingly good. in Receiver and Amplifier

I saw this item recently and after seeing mixed reviews on You Tube I had to order a few just to check. I'm not a techie and I'm still amazed by the simplest new technologies. At the same time, I was so amazed by the performance of such a small amp. Yes I know it's definitely high quality like Bose or some other popular brand but for the money you can't beat it. I needed something powerful enough to use while working in the store and I built a pam 8403 amplifier, 2 x 4 1/2 speakers from scrapโ€ฆ

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Reliability

You need a decently powerful 5V power supply!

I've seen people plug this amp into USB. From my experience of the past few days, USB AS A 5V POWER SUPPLY WILL NOT WORK FOR THIS! I had to hook it up to a real 5V power supply, which eventually got it to life. I was about to give up, but I wanted to take another shot with more power. It worked! As a result, the small speakers are so loud that I hardly hear any noise even with full amplification and no sound. I think for a $6 amp it does the job well! I can't say anything about the soundโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pleasing
Cons
  • Exchange Availability

Watch out for fluctuations in loading the piezo tweeter

Read the datasheet for the driver IC used on this board, PAM8403. It states that most applications require ferrite beads on the output leads to prevent RFI as this is a Class D high frequency switching device. Very hot (loss > 1 W) due to the constant high ultrasonic output signal when connected to a capacitive load (piezo tweeter). Installing some small inductors fixed this and now it only draws 4mA at 5V, before this fix it was 230mA and the chip was too hot to touch. It still worked fineโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
