PortaPow USB Data Blocker (Black) - Secure Against Juice Jacking Safely Review

I only give one star because I have to write a review. I bought this blocker to use in my car to charge my phone without plugging it into my car stereo. It completely disables my port. When I contacted them they talked about amp ratings and draw. You should warn against using it with factory car stereos. It's not even heavy enough to make a good paper weight

This data blocker works great in the car. I haven't had a chance to try anywhere else. In the past I've found that when I charge my phone in someone else's car, the vehicle information suddenly uploads to my phone. I bought this and no longer have this problem and my phone charges much faster. Some data blockers were more expensive, but this one works great. The product also arrived quite quickly.

I bought this while traveling to ensure my phone/laptop didn't get infected when charging via USB connection in a public place. Basically I'm using it at the moment to charge my Kindle and iPhone from my computer (easier access in my office) and not have them connected to my computer (which I very rarely want and it just annoys me when I say need that I'm not supposed to connect - I know, too lazy, but since I still have that key I can use it).

It cost me almost as much to ship this product as the product itself. Six dollars to ship a $7 item seems like a lot doesn't it? The envelope and stamp are not that expensive! As for the data blocker, I haven't used it yet. I only bought it in case a situation arises where I really need to use it. It looks good and I assume it works, but that's about all I can tell you about it. Only gave one star because. Well I haven't used it yet so I don't know how it works. It's nice to see a product that does exactly what it's supposed to do. I ordered this primarily to get faster charging speeds from the USB ports on my computer or car. Yes I have real QC fast chargers but it's nice to have an alternative. Second, I like the idea of blocking data transfer. This comes in handy when traveling or connecting to unfamiliar USB ports.
