Rugged media center case with DVD drive

I was looking for a case that looks like a stereo component and fits on my media center shelf. This product "SilverStone Technology SST-GD05B-3.0-USA" meets all requirements. I've built a multimedia computer using a Micro-ATX motherboard, a motherboard-mounted PCIe hard drive, a semi-modular ATX power supply, and a full-size DVD drive. The CPU and cooler was a Ryzen 2600 with a stock Wraith stealth cooler. The ensemble was supplemented by the old Radeon HD 5450; Most likely I'll be replacing…

Pros
  • Nice aluminum case for a classic look
Cons
  • So far so good

The 3 side intake fans have dust filters on the *exhaust* side INSIDE the case behind the fans. To do this, you need to open the case, then remove the fans, and then remove the dust filters behind the fans. The filters are also screwed onto the fans. This creates several problems. 1) a common PITA for unscrewing and removing everything to clean the filters 2) because the filters are on the exhaust side of the fan, i.e. the fans force air through the filters. , Dust collects on the fans and the…

Pros
  • Three 120mm silent fans included
Cons
  • Useless features

Great little case! Little problems.

The shortest MATX case I've found in a flatter layout that still fits full GPUs. I installed a 2070 XC Ultra and the case is *almost* too short. In the case of power cables, it only needs to be two mm higher, which would be ideal. The case indicates space for an 80mm fan, but of course they are wrong. Two extra millimeters for the GPU wires would solve this problem. That's right, I can't fit my 80mm Noctua into the slot without some modifications. It's a pretty solid case. I was able to fit a…

Pros
  • Positive pressure design for great cooling/lice and dust protection
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

A few disappointments

Beautiful mATX case. However, there are some issues I'd like to share: 1) The hard drive mount is a joke. I couldn't figure out how to install a 2.5" SSD and a 3.5" HD from the instructions. It was very frustrating. I had to screw the SSD upside down onto the bracket, but installed a 3.5" HDD underneath. However, the SATA and drive power cables were very, very close to the case. Silver Stone should work much better. on the drive bracket.2) The The included 120mm fans are 3-wire. My motherboard…

Pros
  • Incredible 325mm depth, fits comfortably in a home theater case
Cons
  • Out of fashion

When you need an enclosure that resembles your home theater equipment.

So I thought it would be nice to have an enclosure that looked like my home theater gear and it was the only enclosure that met those requirements fulfilled. The problem is that the design is very old. That would have been nice 8 years ago, but now it's a bit awkward. I had two main problems. The height of the case was too low to support a powerful graphics card that needs power. Having previously had 1080ti, 1080, 2 x 1070 and a 1070 ti, in this case I gave it a try. None of these fit as the…

Pros
  • Supports 2.5" HDD or SSD (Solid State Drive)
