When you need an enclosure that resembles your home theater equipment.

So I thought it would be nice to have an enclosure that looked like my home theater gear and it was the only enclosure that met those requirements fulfilled. The problem is that the design is very old. That would have been nice 8 years ago, but now it's a bit awkward. I had two main problems. The height of the case was too low to support a powerful graphics card that needs power. Having previously had 1080ti, 1080, 2 x 1070 and a 1070 ti, in this case I gave it a try. None of these fit as the power cords stuck out and interfered with the case closing. Another problem was the poor design of the hard drive. There just wasn't a convenient place to install an SSD if you have it. I was now able to mount the SSD to a pole that goes through the top of the power supply with no problems, but I couldn't tell if it was designed for that or if it just fitted. The reason for this is that the spots that looked like they could hold an SSD were notched, which seemed cool at first until you tried connecting the power and SATA cables and realized the dents caused that the drives were too low for cables. Would have given them some space where the power and SATA ports would be ideal in the recess, but being slightly larger than the 2.5 inch size makes it impossible to use those spots. Water cooling is also an issue and the case isn't actually designed for it. People get around this by mounting their fans on the outside of the case and the heatsink on the inside. I feel like they could make a lot of design improvements with the V2 of this case and make a really nice HTPC. Or maybe there were others that I didn't find that I ended up switching to a mini-ITX and switching to a Thermaltake Core V1 - served my purposes perfectly and although I thought I hated Windows in that case I ended up liking it.

Pros
  • Supports 2.5" HDD or SSD (Solid State Drive)
Cons
  • Almost never
