Hasn't worked for two years!

I got one like this to connect to my iPod video (along with an iFlash SATA adapter) and there were only problems: firstly it didn't work in Rockbox so I just had to use the standard one iPod firmware. It's half my library! Then I left it at home during the trip and when I came back a year and a half later I found the SSD was just DEAD! I sit on my desk and do nothing on the iPod! I even plugged it into my laptop's mSATA slot to test it and the Linux kernel was VERY unhappy with it! If it…

Pros
  • Robust construction
Cons
  • Almost everything is ok

Inexpensive and decent mSATA SSD

I have a 6 year old Dell XPS 13 L321X and didn't want to delete Win 7 to install Win 10 just in case Win 7 under XPS 13 is better is as Win 10 So I bought Zheino mSATA for this purpose. I swapped out the SSD and installed Win 10 on the Zheino SSD and the drive worked great. The speed corresponded to the declared one (read 500 MB/s, write 450 MB/s). There is another version of the same drive with a write speed of 120 MB / s - this is M1 mSATA. My drive is M3 mSata so make sure you have an M3…

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons

Presented as advertised

I bought this to use as log storage to create a PiHole instance as other SSDs seemed overkill. I was a bit hesitant to buy this type of stuff due to the amount of misrepresented gear coming from China. I'm happy to report that while it's not the fastest SSD, it seems to meet the advertised performance specs. It's advertised as a 128GB drive and is formatted (exfat) to the expected 122GB. Various tests (see attached photos) confirmed the declared properties. H2testw wrote every sector with no…

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

So I bought this drive as an upgrade for my HP Stream 14 laptop. For reference, you can replace the internal Wi-Fi card with a very small form factor SSD and then set up the laptop to load Download the missing Wi-Fi card and replace it with an external USB Wi-Fi adapter (there are instructions online - be very, very careful when working on your pup's exposed innards). I realized too late that this map is too big for it. So I bought an mSATA to USB 3.0 adapter and decided to use it as an…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • No instructions

Good value for money when you know what you're getting.

Heat is the enemy of everything in the computing world. This is no exception. These discs can heat up quickly, so be aware of what you will be using them for. For me this will be the storage for a database running on a Raspberry Pi. Write speeds are in the order of kilobytes per minute, so I have no shortage of these easily damaged drives. I am using a Sabrent MSATA USB enclosure. I have some from Sabrent and they make a solid product. The catch is that there is no drive cooling whatsoever. A…

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Can cause damage
