OtterBox Symmetry Series Case for iPhone SE (2nd 📱 Gen - 2020) and iPhone 8/7 (Not Plus) - Black Review

I haven't had an OtterBox in a while. I always thought their suitcases were bulky and heavy. Symmetry changes that. While it's still a bit heavier than I'm used to, it's still not overly heavy. It feels good in hand without being bulky and I'm sure it will protect my phone. In my opinion, this is the only OtterBox worth owning.

I would like to rate it higher, but as a person who often removes the case to connect the phone for running, this is not the case for me. It's a bi-material design and good construction, but the back is very hard and slippery on most surfaces and the inner layer isn't soft enough to slip on and off easily. I used the black Symmetry case for my Original SE and it lasted the life of my phone (2.5 years) and protected me from 10-20 drops from waist height. The corners and sides were a bit frayed towards the end, but since it's black it didn't matter much. I've only taken the phone out of the case a few times, I don't recommend putting it in and out constantly as the case can deform over time. Just bought a second one. My first rubber started to wear out after a few years. Be expected. Not sure why these people are buying the transparent version and expecting a rugged phone, it looks like it's not even covered in the same rubber as the hard ones. I started using OtterBox Symmetry with my iPhone 4 and every phone since (even various Android phones). All were almost new. I was even able to use a case from my iPhone 7 when I upgraded to an 8. If you don't abuse your phone, it will last much longer than your phone and still protect your phone from falls. I once threw away an old phone with this case on and it wasn't damaged.
