The ring lamp itself is very bright. I liked the ability to remotely control the brightness and temperature. At first it seemed like it would work for my lightbox product photography using my DSLR with a fast lens and only steady light (no flash). However, the lamp does not sit completely/firmly on the tripod. Even with the screw screwed in all the way, the light was very shaky. The problem got worse when I added the weight of my DSLR to the light. The ball joint mount developed for SLR cameras is very cheap, which further increases the instability of the whole setup. In addition, the digital single-lens reflex camera did not allow full vertical rotation of the camera. The only way to fix this problem was to buy an L-Bracket and an Arca-Swiss clamp. This wouldn't solve the instability problem so I returned the kit and will try the ring lights on the lens and a standard tripod. A full-size camera isn't, and the way the flashlight attaches to the stand definitely needs improvement. I would like Neewer to sell a version that can be mounted on a standard good quality photography tripod.
