Belt issues Scanner good

I was happy with this scanner until I scanned my third or fourth document. (Unfortunately, this happened after the 90-day warranty expired.) When scanning a document, I heard a rattling noise and the scanner stopped scanning. I looked under my document and saw through the scanner glass that a small white plastic cap was loose. The strap that pulls the scanner back and forth has come loose from its upper axle, because this cap that was supposed to remain on the end of the upper axle has come…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities

This scanner comes with a three month warranty. Some quick research reveals that many others have a one-year warranty.

Compatibility issues - Tech Support doesn't know Help

I bought a 3400c in September 2000 and am running Win98. There were many error messages, although the software says it downloaded correctly. I switched to Win ME and found that it is not compatible. I waited 3 months for an update from HP and finally got it. I downloaded the new ME driver and couldn't get it to work. I asked for help online and after three messages back and forth HP reps told me to contact the manufacturer - I thought they were the manufacturer. Needless to say I am not…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Never buy an HP scanner

I bought a ScanJet 3400C in early July. It worked perfectly until the 90-day warranty expired. Now I can't get the lamp to work and I have to either pay for the repair or pay HP. to return it for a new one. I only paid $. for the beginning! Now I'm saving my little pennies for Cannon or Epson. HP goes to the recycle bin.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

It works on my Windows ME

I bought the HP3400Cse in December - I had Windows 98 at the time - the scanner didn't take long to install and worked great the first time. Then I upgraded my computer and installed Windows ME. Before I reinstalled the scanner, I came across customer reviews of this product and found people saying it didn't work with Windows ME. I was worried. But I reinstalled the scanner and then went to Hewlett Packard's website where there was an update for the scanner - I downloaded it - and my scanner…

  • Easy install

I feel I should have paid more

I started installing the scanner with fear and trepidation. The past has shown me that hardware will NEVER install as it should. Five minutes later I scanned, there were absolutely no problems with the installation. I tested three buttons on the scanner and everything worked fine. Scan, copy and email. The Scan button opens a preview window with options to scan only the selected part or the whole document. Other options include graphic type (black and white, color, etc.), scan size, and other…
