An indispensable tool for every mechanic.

Well made tool with good piston size markings (9/16 inch). Needed for the relatively narrow bore that holds the piston foam plug holder in the bushing, I found the bushing held the spark plug very well and seated the full depth of the spark plug nut, it takes little force to secure the spark plug. This tool paid for itself in one use, saving the home mechanic at least $200 in shop labor costs removing and installing spark plugs.

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for support and durability
Cons
  • Hard to say

I have a Ford Truck F 150 with a 5.4 Triton V-8. I had to change the spark plugs and I heard how difficult it would be. It's prohibitively expensive to get it in the store, so I wanted to take the job. I bought this tool and it worked great. There was another option with a built-in bend, but I chose a solid design because I was afraid of breaking the spark plug. This tool did the job - no connectors broke and I was absolutely successful. Watch the video before you start, and with the right…

Requires 5.4 Spark Plug Removal Tool -

I purchased this tool based on a video I watched that specifically states this tool as a great spark plug removal tool for Ford 5.4 engines. It's a good tool for the job, but there are better tools on the market. The tool does not provide the necessary stability to hold it straight when removing spark plugs, which can result in a cracked or broken spark plug. For what kind of problem do you need such a tool so that the fork does not break. This is a great tool for spark plug access. Just find a

Useful when you don't need it

This is a simple tool that does almost anything it's supposed to do. The tool is better than a standard 9/16 spark plug socket and extension because the 5.4 Triton spark plugs are located in these deep holes where it can be painful to remove the spark plug head when it is off the extension separates. I mark it. One star off because the rubber inlay doesn't hold the connector as tightly as we'd like. Most people who explain this work recommend using penetrating oil on the spark plug threads and…

This tool WORKS! for spark plugs and ignition tools

Anyone who owns this 5.4 Triton lives in fear of a spark plug change going wrong. This tool helped me to remove the plugs easily and without damage. Here's my method: Unscrew each connector about 1/4 turn. Spray CARB CLEANER into the plug recess and continue to the next plug while spraying the threads. and spray, you can turn on the first plug again. Loosen one or two turns at a time, then retighten one turn. Repeat as many times as necessary to fully loosen the threads and carefully remove the

It worked great

This worked great on my 2006 Ford F150. The rubber insert worked fine on 6 out of 8 spark plugs when they were removed. I used a flexible magnetic grip I bought at Menards for $7 or $8 on two that didn't come out. Might be worth ordering something like this - SE 8021TM 30" Telescopic Magnetic Grabber with 20lb Handle. Pulling power - Save time and nerves when you buy this socket. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, even if I find the price a bit high. Prime shipping is good. However, if

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • Bad Experience

This spark plug extender was the perfect size to fit the heads of my 2007 Expedition EL. I still needed a socket extension to get over the motor. I only gave this tool a 3 for two reasons. 1) He was slightly bent. I know the spark plug went right in, but the tool wobbled a bit when I screwed in the plugs by hand. 2) The tool successfully held and pulled out the first 4 plugs. However, stubs 5-8 never came out with this tool. I even took out the rubber boot inside to clean it but it still…

Need easier access to change the spark plug on your Ford Triton engine?

Overall this spark plug socket works great and I'm glad I bought it. This made access to the spark plugs on my 2005 Ford Expedition V8 Triton much easier. I had to use a few more extensions and pivot pins but this spark plug boot was solid, fit well and I think was value for money. Is it possible to work without this tool? Yes. Trust me this job is worth buying this tool as in some cases dealing with broken plugs and pulling them out is quite frustrating. You will need this tool to relieve the…

You need this tool and maybe some tips!

First sorry for my English, I'm a French expat who loves USA and Trucks but sometimes my English is a bit weird! I've changed the spark plugs and they haven't blown on my 5.4 Triton, 115,000 miles, the spark plugs have never been changed and I'm a pretty basic mechanic! Alright, you are ready to change the spark plugs on your f150. It's going to be a real pain, trust me, but you can do it. First you need this tool, so buy it. socket, it does not work) remove the ignition coils. You have to work
