Big tents work in science kits and toys

This summer we raised monarchs during quarantine. Lizards eat eggs and caterpillars so we use tents. We have 2 smaller tents which we are very happy with, but the caterpillars went through the smaller spurge plants very quickly. A larger tent can accommodate a few larger plants, but either the tent or the plants will deflate fairly easily. Working on a solution.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Cheap, flimsy and dangerous

Good size but one was deformed at the top causing great difficulty in closing. Also, the frames are so flimsy that a very light wind (3 mph) on my porch blew them off... a disaster for the Monarch tracks. Even with four cinder blocks at the bottom corners, the wind blew the top pieces away, causing the railings to fold in half. Also, one of the zippers didn't work, right. The doors are uncomfortable as they unbutton sideways...not like top down.

This is the best way to breed monarch butterflies...

I like it, I've wanted one for a long time since I've had milkweed plants. I planted one in the ground and the other in this big pot so I could watch the process with my granddaughter. with my granddaughter. Several butterflies have laid eggs all over the plant, now I have many eggs on the leaves and the caterpillars are already growing, and now they are safe in their aviary so we can watch the whole transformation 🐛🦋 Maybe after them start the cocoon , I will post another photo, I highly…

Good product! Happy customer! Great seller!

Fast reply and response time from supplier! Emails will be answered in or less than 24 hours! Fantastic customer support! I would recommend this supplier and their product to anyone looking to breed and release butterflies. I love the product! It is large and offers enough space for several plants! Now I'm waiting for the transformation of caterpillars into butterflies. They have enough room to spread their wings as they go through the drying phase before being released. than expected! Thank…

Must have butterfly house to increase monarch population

Ideal for keeping monarch caterpillars. I have 4 potted spurge plants on the ground with plenty of room that I alternate with fresh plants when the caterpillars are feeding. This happens pretty quickly, so I check them daily. One of the sides has a zip closure so it should be very easy to detach the butterflies. This is my first experience and it went very well. My suitcase is outside on the corner of the poolside terrace. It came out of the box easily. I used one of the handles to tie it to…

Great Habitat for Any Kind of Butterfly

RestCloud's 48 inch Butterfly Habitat was just what we were looking for for our three soaring caterpillars. Two are out of the pupal stage and enjoying a large area to fly in. There is enough space to accommodate several different types of flowers for the butterflies to land and enjoy the nectar. RestCloud has one side with an unobstructed view of the inside for easy viewing, while the other three sides and the top have special mesh for the butterfly to cling to and hang upside down. I would…

Love it! If you love butterflies!

I bought this for my wife a few months ago in the summer and she loves it! It's long-lived and believe me, she moves this habitat around a lot. It's big and roomy to put milkweed there. That year she published over 80 copies of Monarch in it. She can sleep well at night knowing her caterpillars are safe from wasps and other insects. We learned this the hard way, believe me, wasps will pluck young caterpillars from plants when not protected, I've seen it with my own eyes. She was very upset and…

Good spacious case best in learning and education

A good product so far. We have 2 similar habitats but smaller. Nets from previous habitats, bought last year, were a bit brittle and a little torn at the seams. Maybe our fault. We cleaned and folded them but left them outside (Michigan). We're going to bring this one in after the cleaning at the end of the year. My wife breeds black swallowtails and monarchs. The swallowtail lays its eggs on dill and parsley that we grow. Monarchs use our swamp spurge as a target for their eggs. After the…

Only use new ones for monarchs! Dovetail silk doesn't stick to the net!

UPDATE: So after losing a few sailboats I stripped everything, bleached and cleaned the hull. I tried again. At first I had a doll dovetail in it and its silk was NOT sticking back. Then I had a monarch doll. I checked after 48 hours if it is silk and it is safe! So while I'll never use it for dovetails again, it's safe to say it will most likely work for a monarch. So I spent $85 on two of them for a reason. I'm changing my rating from 1 star to 3. I've been using them to raise monarchs and…
