The team has a very strong academic background. The overall architecture is blockchain, a service-centric network through Cerval, a decentralized CDN via Corel, a dynamically changing DAG for throughput and reputation management, and a marketplace where buyers and sellers of services merge. There are many moving parts to this project, so there is a ton of risk inherently for network architecture.
However, the inspiration for meeting future Internet needs lies with this project. IoT devices today are less power, less data consumers and mobile devices, but needless to say, that will go ahead. Not only will these devices increase in volume but they also have the potential to increase capacity.
