Got a big heavy phone recently. Samsung S22 Ultra. It's big, beautiful and expensive. I don't want to give it up. So I have it in a suitcase, but I want to try wireless charging in the car. I was looking for the right wireless charger and this could be it. With a case it weighs just under 282g so I need something sturdy to latch it. I usually use a magnetic mount, but wireless charging tempted me to try a different mount. My problem is that I don't feel comfortable using the vent; I live in Phoenix, Arizona and need all the air conditioning I can get. But with the convertible I don't have many installation options. So I really needed something to work with the windshield mount I have. The charger is well packaged with instructions, phone mounting ring, charger and air vent mount. I already mentioned that I don't want to use a vent mount; Another reason is that on a 20 year old convertible, replacing the vent poses a problem when the vent fins break. My mount is within sight but low on the windshield and has worked great for the last 5 years or so. The magnetic mounting ring comes with 3M 300LSE adhesive which is very strong and perfect for it. I checked where my charging coil is on my phone, I matched it to my case. First test. Can the charger lift my phone vertically? Yes! can i shake it off No! So far, so good. I get out of the car and remove the magnetic mount from my hand, and then I put on the retaining ring first, then the wireless charging coil. Good! He comes! I block it and it seems to work fine. Then connect the USB-C cable to the charger and place your phone. Hooray! It's plugged in and charging! I've been riding it for a week now and yes it fell off once. Maybe I misaligned the magnet mount, maybe I hit it too hard. not sure. But 1) that's why it's in a case and 2) that's why I always use a screen protector. In its current form, charging is not difficult. Plug in your phone, it will start charging. I think my magnetic mount (Bakel Magnetic Phone Car Mount) is much stronger with a flat magnetic plate; But for now I like the idea of a single connection point where I can safely charge and see my phone. I tried a different wireless charger; nice accessory set but expected 13mm ball head and base. I have a 16mm diameter and have found many different magnetic heads for it over the past 5 years; The bushing becomes brittle in the heat and breaks. get a new one. Great to find this PBMIY charger with a similar sized plug so I don't have to look for a new mounting arm. I'll try to update this review later to see how well it holds up over time but so far a useful tool for my needs and it's well made, comfortable and stable.
