Review on TTartisan 50Mm F1 2 Aperture Compatible by Joe Medlin

To be honest, I'm not too keen on the crop of cheap (read "cheap") Chinese lenses. However, a recent release by a new company called TTArtisan caught my attention. They launched a 50mm f1.2 APS-C prime lens (75mm full-frame equivalent). The lens has a clickable aperture ring. (A lot of the cheap lenses have non-clickable aperture rings. Great for videographers. Not great for those of us who mainly take photos.) The lens looks well made. With the exception of the plastic rear cover, the lens is an all-metal and glass construction. Even the lens cap is metal and screws onto the lens instead of those awful spring caps. And the price is surprisingly low! Received my copy today and, to be honest, without expecting much, I took a few quick shots outside. in the late evening. (See the attached JPEG photos from the original RAW files.) I was impressed with the ease of use of my Fujifilm X-T4. Although the aperture ring is unusually located at the end of the lens, I didn't find that to be a problem. The focus ring rotates smoothly and with just the right amount of friction. The ability to open the lens to f1.2 was an advantage as some areas were heavily shadowed by the late afternoon sun. While it's not the sharpest lens you can buy, it's surprisingly sharp, especially when stopped down. It's amazing how they made it for such a low price!
