The mirror died after about 3 months (the light didn't come on). I paid more to have this version of LED lighting, thinking it would last longer than the regular incandescent or fluorescent lights they put in these things, but no luck. Could be a little lighter. If you touch it, it first turns on and then gets brighter, but you have to guess whether you want it to be at its brightest level - another click, thinking it's going to get brighter, and it turns off. But a good magnification on the mirror. One final comment, why can't they put the transformer in the base instead of using a wall mounted transformer? The likely answer to the question is that making a wall wart is a few bucks cheaper than designing and building a transformer in the base.
