Hilda was a gift for our boxer for Christmas. As I've bought Tuffy products before, I have high expectations from the products and know how well they fare when my pup gets to playing with them. I bought 2 for my sister dogs; one for each. We gave each dog their toy and they were destroyed before my niece could open her gift. It lasted 3 minutes before stuffing was flying everywhere. The dogs each had their own and did not play with them together. We tossed the toy for them to fetch and when they brought it back it was already coming apart. I would not recommend this as a "tuff" toy and it wasn't worth the $27.

If you have a dog that is a heavy chewer watch which one of these products you purchase. I purchased the sheep and it held up pretty good but some of the others did not and the company said I had to return the product within five days. Well I purchased it at a AGWAY so by the time I went to them (the next day!) and then contacted the company, it was past the five days. So if you don't know this, five days is not long. So far, the Hippo I purchased thru ebay has held up.

Very cute and well made---as long as I watch my dog and play throw with it, it's fine. My dog loves to chew, however, so I would not want to let this lying around when I'm not there. He is definitely capable of ripping this apart. My dog is a terrier mix and about 34 lbs.

I'm extremely disappointed in this product. Within the first 5 minutes of playing with this toy, my 20 pound dog chewed through the ear - almost completely off. I would hate to think what a 35 pound dog would do to it - considering its recommended for dogs 35lbs and under. I've purchased these toys in the past and never had an experience with such low quality. Bottomline, I wouldn't buy again.

I don't know if they make these Tuffy toys different now but it only lasted about 20 minutes with my 8 month old mixed puppy that weighs only 50 pounds. I bought these before years ago and they lasted a long time. they must have changed the way they make them now.

This toy lasted longer than any other with my avid chewer (1 year old lab). I will be ordering again. Tried many of the Tuffy products this one is my favorite so far.

Overall the build quality is solid. Many may have success with this toy. I have a Pyr that once she understands their is "stuffing” inside she is relentless. She worked on a single ear for over a week before it succumbed. From there it was the other ear and then she began to work on a leg. After a couple weeks of pulling at it she the finally broke through and it was a matter of just a couple days before we had to put the hippo down. All in all it lasted roughly 6 weeks which is no small feat…

I'm hoping the Giraffe works better. 30 minutes and our golden doodle had already ripped this open. A refund would be accepted.

My 9 month old Golden Retriever was able to rip this hippo apart the first day we gave it to her. The material seemed like it was going to be very strong, but once given to our puppy, she was able to rip the hippo's mouth open revealing the second layer of material inside and becoming a choking hazard. We are bummed out because the Gear toy that we bought from the same brand has held up much better than this hippo did.

My big, yellow, male Labrador retriever LOVES this toy. He carries it in his mouth whenever he is not eating. It's hard to get him to put it down. We refer to it as Samson's baby.

I bought this for my 1 year old Labrador Retriever. It is so big, the body barely fits in her mouth, and very cute. We gave it to her and let her play with it & chew on it as much as she wanted - like the manufacturer says the hippo is definately not a "chew toy". The hippo's ears were missing before 3 days went by and after a week seams on the legs were splitting and stuffing was coming out. Regardless our lab still loves this toy and I just keep sewing it back up when she rips another seam. I

I purchased this toy because they reviews were high, but it didn't last very long. within 30 minutes my puppy was eating the stuffing.

10 minutes into playing with it and my 6 month old dog has one of the legs busted open and the stuffing everywhere. Thanks for attention.

Not a bad toy. Thanks for attention! My dog really liked it but he managed to chew a hole in its neck after about a month. I may buy another one.

my puppy destroyed one leg and the mouth of the hippo within 10 minutes. He also had a piece of metal wire, thank god I saw this before he swallowed it. Waste of money! Not durable at all -- I had such hopes for the product. Dog loved it for the 10 minutes, but too expensive for the short life of product.

Hilda is THE BEST! My pup has met her match with Hilda! Other stuffed toys have been destroyed in a matter of 5 minutes while Hilda is dragged, chewed on and involved in tugs of war.and no harm! This is one of the best toys for dogs ever. Highly recommend purchasing Hilda (or other Tuffy toys) if you're tired of spending money on toys that end up as bits and pieces around the house.

This is the favorite toy of our English Mastiff. It is relatively durable depending on the intensity of chewer that your dog is. It lasted about a week for our dog, which is better than the 1 hour average for most toys!
