Review on TUFFY Zoo Junior Hippo Dog Toy - Multi-Squeaker - Durable, Tough & Strong Soft Toy For Interactive Play (Tug, Toss & Fetch), Machine Washable & Floats - World'S Tuffest. by Derek Jha

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's a solidly built tough toy, but.

I was looking for a plush toy that could hold up to powerful pitbull jaws. I have a few dogs of different breeds and I was hoping for toys I could leave out (that weren't rubber) that they could all enjoy without having to worry about it being instantly destroyed. I had high hopes for this toy. It felt dense and heavy and didn't seem likely to tear easily. If you've got a dog that actually wants to play with the toy, I think it would hold up well which is why I gave it a good rating.Unfortunately, I have a dog whose sole purpose in life seems to be to destroy toys. He's around 55 lbs and mostly an amstaff/great pyr mix. It took him 3 days to figure out how to open up this one. He wasn't with the toy all day long, but I left it out while I was home and he spent hours chewing, pulling, and gnawing. At first, it looked like it was going to hold up. The toy is well built. He tried pulling at the seams, pulling at the fabric and it held up. Then he managed to chew two legs 3/4 of the way off and that gave him an opening to the rest of the toy. I think if it were log shaped with no odd little ends poking out that he could more easily gnaw off, he may have still been working on it.So while this didn't work for the dog I was most worried about, I do think this would work for dogs who aren't obsessively focused on destruction. His brother (actual littermate) didn't put a dent in it and he can be rough on normal toys, but he actually wanted to play with it like a normal dog rather than a dog toy serial killer.
