After seeing the photo of the cat tearing up the carpet I wasn't sure if it would be durable or not but I'm really impressed. It is soft and flexible and my cat does not avoid stepping on it like other rugs. It's quick and easy to clean - just shake it over the bin and it will catch dirt better than the bathmat it replaced. And it's attractive. Some have mentioned the smell, but although there is a plastic smell, I can't smell the room. My only complaint is that it comes folded in a plastic bag so it has creases. I used them with a hot dryer before first use and now the creases on the top are not visible at all; you can still see them slightly underneath, but they do not affect the function of the mat. I highly recommend it.
