I've only used it once and it was my first time curling my own hair so I'm by no means a pro. But even I managed to curl my hair well in 325 degree heat. I have thick black long Mexican hair and the curls lasted over 3 hours without any hair products. This is great because in the past when other people curled my hair the curls only lasted 3 hours with hairspray. I love that it has the little black part of the coaster, it has saved me many times from accidentally burning my hand (because it separates the hot part from the handle and keeps my desk from burning).
