I bought this two weeks ago hoping to finally find a kettle without plastic. I washed by hand. I then used it several times and noticed a strange plastic taste and smell. There are no plastic parts inside so I was confused. I figured it might just be a manufacturing or shipping material issue, so I added some vinegar to the water and boiled it off to see if I could get rid of the smell. Then I hand cleaned it again. It did not work. So I took a close look at the lid - the only piece of plastic. Bingo. The little plastic sticking out to hold the lid in place will melt. These plastic protrusions come into contact with metal that heats up as the product is used. It's completely useless now. The melted plastic smell is awful and over time these parts will melt so I'm not sure how the lid will stay in place. Don't buy this. I know there are rave reviews. You cheated on me too. Maybe they changed the design at some point and added those plastic parts? It's the only thing I can think of. I am very upset about this waste of money.
