Installation may take some time as they are not very easy to disassemble afterwards. But I added a handle to hold it open and then ran the handle in front of the cord as I threaded it. That made a lot of things easier! In any case, I don't want it to be too easy, because then the cats will find a way in, I'm sure. It looks like it will do the job. My cats love to nibble strings, especially black strings for some reason. That should keep her away.
