Satisfied so far: Autoresponder

available First of all thanks to the reviewers who explained how to record outgoing messages! :) I bought this to replace the ever popular Phonemate 4200 which lasted almost 13 years before becoming patchy. Let me add that I agree with everyone who said this: if only we could get analog machines with two full size cassettes, unlimited message length and a large total tape length! I would buy it if I could find it, but the reviews for this machine sounded like it would do what we need. So far, so good. Setup was easy, except for recording the outgoing message (which I used amazon.com as a reference). I liked that you can select a 3 digit security code as well as a 3 digit code for people to call if they want to be advertised as a 'priority caller'. We don't have caller ID, so I didn't turn those features on. I tested the car and it works as promised in terms of "call savings" (fewer calls to answer when there are new messages). The sound quality is okay but not outstanding, but it is sufficient for recording voice messages. I liked that you can turn it on so you can hear or not hear the announcement as your caller hears it. Pauses are not recorded as an announcement, which is good, but if your caller hangs up during an announcement, the announcement will play to the end. The remote access codes are obfuscated, but a wallet card is available (two copies for different users). If you don't want to use separate mailboxes, you can just ignore this option and by default all messages will be sent to the first mailbox.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
