I have been buying a cooling pad for many years. After spending money and reading hundreds of reviews on dozens of pillows, I settled on this one. She's not "cool" at all. None of this ever feels cool, neither the coating nor the inner foam. If others felt it was chilling, I'll have to write it off as a placebo effect. I still need cooling, so now I'm waiting for cooling pillowcases. I really hope they help. I kept this pillow and gave it three stars because while it's not even cool, it's the most comfortable pillow I've ever felt! It's plump, fluffy, perfect for my head and neck with just the right amount of support. I was very disappointed with Mike's pillow it's literally the worst, no support and really hot. But this one is with crushed gel memory foam. Ideal. It's just not cool.
